Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Classes
What is Pilates, and is it right for me?
Pilates is a low-impact, full-body training method focused on strength, mobility, posture, and control. It’s suitable for all levels and can be adapted for injuries, pregnancy, or specific goals.
Do I need prior experience to join a class?
No experience is needed. Many of our clients start as complete beginners. We recommend starting with a Basic class.
What’s the difference between Classical Reformer and Power Reformer Classes?
We offer two distinct styles of reformer classes. You can read the full class descriptions here.
Classical Reformer classes follow the STOTT PILATES method. These sessions focus on precise, controlled movements, proper alignment, and balanced muscle development. Expect a structured, full-body workout that emphasises technique, breath, and long-term strength and mobility.
Power Reformer classes are Dynamic Pilates classes. They are faster-paced, more athletic, and designed to elevate your heart rate while building strength and endurance. These classes often include creative sequences, stronger spring settings, and a more energetic flow.
Both styles deliver an effective full-body workout—the choice comes down to whether you prefer a more classical, technique-driven approach or a high-energy, dynamic challenge.
What is STOTT PILATES?
STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary, scientifically-backed approach to the original Pilates method, refined by co-founders Moira and Lindsay G. Merrithew with physical therapists and sports medicine professionals. It emphasizes modern principles of exercise science, spinal rehabilitation, and neutral spine alignment, making it a safe, effective, and customizable fitness routine suitable for rehabilitation, athletic conditioning, and all levels of ability.
How many people are in each class?
Class sizes are kept intentionally small so instructors can provide personalised guidance and modifications. Capacity at our studios vary between 6 and 10 per class.
