The updated STOTT PILATES® Intensive Reformer 2nd Edition course teaches you the science and the art of instructing Pilates.

Become a Pilates professional who is able to design and lead the STOTT PILATES® Reformer repertoire and work in many types of settings and with a wide range of clients. Therefore, you will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs. Moreover, you’ll be taught by experienced Instructor Trainers who will mentor you on your education path.

Course fee must be settled 1 month prior to course start
Once course is completed, your written and practical exam must be completed within 6 months

Prepare yourself to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications performed on the Reformer. On the other hand, learn how to combine Mat and Reformer based workouts for increased variety and intensity.

STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to the original exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates. Developed by former professional dancer Moira Merrithew and a team of sports medicine professionals, this method incorporates modern exercise science and rehabilitation principles. The result is a method that is safe and a highly effective low-impact way to stretch, strengthen and streamline the body.

This course is ideal for experienced studio and fitness instructors, personal trainers, sports therapists, physiotherapists and those with a background in dance looking to improve their range of skills and enhance their employability. In a word, for people looking to obtain the finest Pilates education in the industry.

Windsor Studio

Course Pre-requisites

  • Gym or Studio Instructor or equivalent, or dancer. Alternatively, functional Anatomy background
  • At least 30 hours of attending Pilates classes is required
  • Background practical knowledge of Pilates as a user-either the STOTT PILATES® method or another style
  • Teaching experience is recommended
  • Note: If no previous functional anatomy experience, you will need to book the anatomy course online in order to be accepted to this course. We recommend that you book the anatomy course online at least six weeks before your STOTT PILATES® course to allow enough study time

How will you be assessed

  • Practical exam (includes postural assessment)
  • Theory exam (multiple choice)


STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor – Reformer Level 1

Anatomy Course Online

Students with no previous anatomy experience will be accepted to the STOTT PILATES® courses when booking the anatomy course online. This anatomy course online will equip you with the necessary knowledge required to join the STOTT PILATES® courses and pass your exams
(This course is sold separately)

  • 50 hours of instruction and supervised teaching (the course itself)
  • Minimum of 10 hours of observation
  • Minimum of 40 hours of physical review
  • Minimum of 25 hours of practice teaching
  • Total: 125 hours

A minimum number of hours of observation, practice teaching and physical review are required for all courses and should be completed between instructed sessions at any STOTT PILATES facility. Additional training may be required before certification. Practice teaching and physical review hours must be logged outside of class time. The practice logs must be submitted on your exam date (either written or practical exam). If the student fails to submit all the logs within 7 days from the last portion of the exam, the entire exam will be void.

Includes watching sessions taught by a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor or relevant STOTT PILATES videos.

Means physically performing the exercises learned in class. Taking a class with a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor or working out with video can qualify as physical review hours, and can be completed individually or with other students.

Hours can be fulfilled by instructing family, fellow students, friends or clients.

Note, there are no hours required for Injuries & Special Populations or Advanced Level courses.

Meet your Instructor Trainer

Carlo Yanez

Carlo is a registered osteopath and a Pilates passionista, who loves to inspire students and clients. His affection for Pilates was born after a dance injury when he discovered the benefits of spinal rehabilitation through the STOTT PILATES® method. He is a Merrithew® Instructor Trainer, a STOTT PILATES® REHAB Reformer 1 & 2 trained instructor and a STOTT PILATES® Athletic Conditioning Specialist & Group Matwork Specialist.

Carlo holds a BSc. Ost.(Hons) from the College of Osteopaths in London, UK, a BFA in Ballet from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA and is a YMCA FIT Gym Instructor certified in strength training.
